About the Program
The Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced the Internship Training programme to the trainees of Government Industrial Training Institutes in Industries.
Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) play a vital role in imparting skill training under Craftsmen Training Scheme and produce technician level workforce in the State in different trades. Various skill training programmes are being implemented through a vast network of Government ITIs and Private ITIs in the State. This Department strives hard to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of skilled manpower to Industries. It also helps in making the youth industry ready and employable.
Generally, training in ITIs imparted as per the syllabus prescribed by Directorate General of Training, New Delhi consists of 80% of practical training and 20% of theoretical training. The practical training is more of syllabus oriented rather than industry-relevant training.
The aim of providing skill training does not end by just creating an institution for training trainees but includes guiding them to find gainful employment and upliftment of their status in society.
So as to provide an opportunity to the ITI trainees to obtain industry-relevant training at industrial atmosphere which will make them industry ready to take up employment after completion of ITI training, the government have ordered to implement the internship training to the trainees in industries vide the G.O.Ms.No.105, Labour & Employment (S1) Department, dated 3.9.2018.
